After almost sixteen years ago and after successfully trading in Norwich with Mambo Jambos, we thought we should have a go at another restaurant!!! After several trips out to various towns and cities around Norwich on our days off or just having a nose around to see what other people are doing we stumbled across a place in Ipswich Town centre which had been closed for a while, three years to be exact! The Mambos concept was born.

It all started as a brother and sister team, while after working for other independent operators, Martin and Julie decided to have a go alone..... down a side street little lane in Norwich called 'Lower Goat Lane', a restaurant had been empty for a while and an agent friend recommended we should give it a try (he was a previous customer). After much thought about the theme with a previous holiday to the States just before we opened, Martin and Julie had plenty of new idea's that Norwich or anyone else had not seen before. So in August of 1996 Mambo Jambos restaurant was opened and has been busy ever since. We now see people in their mid twenties who now bring their children into eat as their parents did for them way back then!

By his side on this venture is his partner of 11 years Sheila whom was the manageress of the Norwich outlet for 7 years working side by side with his sister on a daily basis. With her depth of knowledge and experience we hope to carry on the tradition of good food, quality service and value for money.

Mambos provides very similar food to the Norwich restaurant with an updated and slightly more sleek and modern approach, with the oldy-worldy bits and pieces added to the theme in keeping with the other restaurant.

The Mambos bar & grill had previously been a couple of different bars and an Irish theme pub. But never a restaurant. After several months of refurbishment and careful choices of colour and theme, we opened on November 3rd 2011. Trade has started well and we look forward to meeting and making happy more folk from the town of Ipswich!
